iOS App Exploration
An American bohemian apparel and lifestyle retail company, Free People sells women’s clothing and accessories. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Free People is a part of Urban Outfitters, Inc. Today Free People sells their line in 1,400 specialty stores worldwide. The brand is distributed globally via direct channels, including the Free People Global site and Free People UK site.
With the rise of mCommerce, Free People's replatform and redesign was an opportunity for a strategic shift. With the app we could utilize the rich insights and data gathered over time to go beyond best practices and create a shopping experience unique to the Free People girl. Offering more personalized and enjoyable ways of shopping.
Just for You
As a lifestyle brand, Free People has the ability to offer a truly special and personalized shopping experience for the Free People woman.
The Just for You section takes her shopping behavior and shows products we think she will love as well as the products that pair well with her purchased items.
As we learn about her style, we can make recommendations that go beyond just product. We can also share relevant blog content, daily edits, new music and more. Offering a better, more holistic Free People experience. Her own space within the Free People app.
More Ways to Shop
Shop FP Me
One of the challenges we found customers having was styling the outfits. With Free People's social platform, FP Me, users can share photos of how they style the pieces and get inspiration from other girls. So we asked ourselves, "how can we take FP Me to the next level?"
We saw the iOS app as a great place to do just that, and explore a new way of shopping. Instead of only shopping the e-commerce experience of landing pages to product pages, she could also shop using FP Me. Ultimately, building out FP Me within the app enabled us to offer her a new way to find the products and outfits that fit her style.
